History and Heritage
It started out as just an idea in 1960 to assist elderly individuals to continue to live in their hometown of Alcester. That idea became fact in 1963 due to a group of innovative and creative community leaders: Vere A. Larson, Chuck Sundstrom, Roger McKellips, and Walter Hammerstrom that formed Morningside Manor, a nonprofit organization which received funding from the Federal Housing and Home Financing Agency to build 52 rental units. That leadership has allowed Morningside Manor’s 52 rental units to grow into a spectrum of diverse services:
- Skilled and Intermediate Care
- Independent Living Apartments
- Alzheimers Special Care Unit
- Hospice Services
- Wellness Program
- Adult Daycare / Respite Program
- Inpatient and Outpatient Therapies:
- Physical Therapy
- Occupational Therapy
- Speech Therapy
